Sure you can grind with the best of them, but are you the best?
This is not your typical gravel grinder. The Unravel will be a “ Ride what you bring, mixed surface grinder” that will incorporate a combination of gravel/fire road and “noodle-bar friendly” single track.
It’s an RVA Underground event which means “Guaranteed Gut-Punching Gravel”
WHEN: SATURDAY, October 15th
WHERE: Pocahontas State Park - 10301 State Park Road, Chesterfield, VA 23838
RACE STARTS: 9:00 for all Categories (racers will go off in waves)
PRE-REGISTRATION: $50 and CLOSES on Thursday, 10/13 @6:00 PM
DAY OF REGISTRATION: $75 Cash, Venmo, or Check.
RACE CHECK-IN: 7:00 - 8:30 AM SHARP at the RVA Racing Events tent
PARKING: After passing the guard shack, follow the main road all the way back to the pool lot. You’ll see us!
CAMPING: Available through the park reservation systems at https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/pocahontas#cabins_camping
THE COURSE: The Unravel course is ~17 miles with ~1200’ of elevation gain per lap - so you’re gonna work for that champion status. We have designed a course that will stay on the Courthouse side of the trail system. While being primarily gravel fire roads and double track, this course also incorporates some great flow trails such as Blueberry, Gatehouse, and the new JT trail with a couple others thrown in for good measure. Nothing that should cause you to dismount. Gravel bikes will have the advantage, but we think a fast XC MTB will be a strong contender.

COURSE MAP: You can download the course map by clicking the button below. RidewithGPS site will allow you to convert to GPX, FIT, TCX or whatever format you need.
PLEASE NOTE (Updated 10/1): A USA Cycling (USAC) license is NOT required to race the Unravel Gravel; however, the Virginia State “Champion’s Title” is only open to Virginia residents who hold an annual USAC license. You can purchase an annual license before registering by clicking the link below and use code RVA2022 at checkout for 20% OFF!

What this means (Updated 10/1): For the Unravel 60K, we will have 2 podiums. The first for overall winners in each category that reflect actual race-day ranking. Then a second VA State Champion’s podiums, where the podium shifts to remove non-VA residents and/or those without USAC annual licenses.
Prizes will be awarded to overall winners and State Champions receive a USAC championship medal.
